FAQs

Super-Precision Bearings FAQs

Which super-precision bearings does CHG offer?

The range includes angular contact ball bearings in the 718, 719, 70 and 72 series, and cylindrical roller bearings in the N 10, NN 30 and NNU 49 reference series. Availability depends on size and design.

What precision levels are available?

CHG can review P4A-equivalent or higher requirements for angular contact designs, and SP, UP or application-defined requirements for cylindrical roller designs. Final tolerances depend on size, design and the inspection agreement.

Can catalogue speed be used as the spindle speed limit?

No. Permissible speed depends on the complete arrangement, preload or clearance, load, cage, fits, lubrication, cooling, balance and required life. The spindle requires system-level verification.

How do the two bearing types differ?

Angular contact bearings support radial and axial loads, with suitable paired arrangements providing axial location. N, NN and NNU cylindrical roller bearings primarily provide radial support and permit internal axial displacement; separate axial location is required.

Are matched sets and hybrid designs available?

Angular contact bearings can be reviewed for universal matching, matched pairs or multi-bearing sets and steel or ceramic balls. Ceramic rollers can be evaluated for selected cylindrical roller designs. Final configuration is series-specific.

What information is needed for a quotation?

Provide the bearing number or dimensions, spindle drawing, quantity, speed, loads, precision and preload or clearance requirements. Include lubrication, cooling, destination and delivery requirements where available.
